Dressed by drawing fibres from a strick - see picture, the general opinion is that this method of dressing is easier and more effective than a cone distaff. We now use this method ourselves and for tuition.
Can also be used to spin bats of tow of a drum carder wrapped around the distaff.
The stand can be used with home made cone distaffs.
