Flax can be worked very simply using one's hands or a small piece of wood to work the fibre out, however, if there is any more than a small amount to process better tooling is required.
Flaxland produce their own tooling and these are from small blocks which can be used for breaking, scutching and hackling as well as supplying combs, small hackling units, scutching knives, Farm Factory Units - able to work small batches at a time much more quickly than with the hand blocks. We also have a 'roller break' which very quickly 'crimps' the straw to break it making it ready for the scutching stage.
As well as the processing tooling we also make and supply drop spindles, mini hand looms and twine twisters in kits as well as individual.
